INTRODUCTION The Dragonfly application is meant to be a demo app to test Accuware Dragonfly SLAM capability. This is our latest product: a computer vision-based indoor positioning system (IPS) capable of delivering a mobile device’s location with centimeter accuracy, without any dedicated hardware or infrastructure. =========== GET STARTED The orientation is fixed to landscape only. After first start the app will ask you for your permissions to use the Camera. To start the application press the Dragonfly at the center of the screen. You will get into the "Calibration" process first: follow these instructions shown in the tutorial to properly calibrate the camera in order to get the best results. For more information refer to the inbuilt documentation. After having properly calibrated the camera the app automatically enters positioning mode. Since there is no geo-referencing of the internal 3D model, all positions are just plotted as raw, unit-less X, Y and Z coordinates. =========== TECHNOLOGY Accuware Dragonfly is a visual SLAM-based system. Dragonfly uses a camera video stream to perform Simultaneous Localization And Mapping (SLAM), a technique described as “the computational problem of constructing or updating a map of an unknown environment while simultaneously keeping track of a device's location within it “. The device in question is a device equipped with a camera, in this case your Android device. Dragonfly uses the device’s camera to analyze its surroundings, map the environment around it, and determine its location in reference to its physical context. The app provides a built-in 3D viewer to see your location in real time. No site setup is required.
